Einbausituation

Building regulations

For widths of 1300 mm or more, a maximum height of 1500 mm is possible.

Slat colour

The colour of the slats is key to the appearance of the blind. The colours of the top rail, bottom rail, cords and plastic parts are matched to the slats. However, there may be slight variations.

Offset perforations

The openings for the cord and string are staggered so that they are concealed when the blind is closed, creating a cleaner look and providing better light blocking.

magnetic holder
Magnet zum Anschrauben für Jalousie

The bracket is screwed onto the window sash and secures the bottom rail with a magnet, preventing the blind from swinging out when the window is opened.

Product description

CLIP & SHADE Custom-Made External Blind for Windows in White

Product Description

Our CLIP & SHADE external blind is now also available custom-made! If our standard sizes, which you can find here are not sufficient, you can order our product precisely to the millimeter. It is important that you correctly determine the order width. You can find out how to do this in the next section.

The advantages of our external blind:

The CLIP & SHADE external blind is a clamp-on blind that effectively protects your home from heat. It is simply clamped into the window with the help of five clips – installation takes only a few minutes and can be done independently by anyone. No scaffolding is necessary for installation, as it can be done from the inside. Of course, there is no need to drill or screw into the window or facade. Because it is installed on the outside of the window, the special heat protection fabric reflects the sun's heat rays. Heat entry is thus reduced by over 90%, and the room stays cool!

Do you want a special color that perfectly matches your home? No problem! We can coat your external heat protection blind in any RAL color for 129€!

Note on motor operation:
Experience the new, improved CLIP & SHADE motor – the smart companion for more comfort and efficiency in your home. Our new motor has been optimized to offer you reliable function, an impressive battery life of over a year per charge, and an appealing design.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Long battery life: Over 1 year of runtime per charge (up to 400 load cycles).

  • Easy control: Convenient operation via 6-channel remote control.

  • Flexible operation: Control individual blinds or several at once.

  • High compatibility: Suitable for all blind sizes except balcony doors.

  • Easy charging: Charge battery without dismounting the blind (approx. 4–6 hours).

  • Modern design: Blends discreetly and elegantly into the blind.

  • Retrofit option: Also suitable for already installed CLIP & SHADE blinds.

Does the external blind also fit my window?

Our external blind fits 90% of all windows – however, there are a few exceptions that you should check before ordering:

  1. Your window must be able to open. If it is a fixed glazing, our external blind cannot be installed.
  2. Windows with transoms or fanlights. Transoms or fanlights are additional window units above or below your main window. Often, installation of our external blind is still possible. However, please contact us before placing your order.
  3. Sash overlap: The sash overlap is the outermost projection of your window frame profile. For plastic windows, it is usually approx. 15-25mm. Important: If a sealing rubber is present, please include it in your measurement. If your sash overlap is larger than 30mm, please contact us via the contact form. You can find an image of how to measure the sash overlap here:

  4. Wooden windows with a drip rail: A drip rail is a thin metallic profile on your window frame. It replaces the sash overlap and is designed to prevent water from entering the window. Often, a CLIP & SHADE can still be installed – but please contact us in any case via the contact form. You can find an image of a drip rail here:
  5. Wooden windows with a weather bar: A weather bar is an projecting profile on the window sash that is intended to prevent water from entering the window. This is actually a great feature, but it hinders the installation of our blind. If the weather bar extends beyond the profile of the window frame, our CLIP & SHADE external blind unfortunately cannot be installed. You can find an image of a weather bar here:

FAQ

Is the roller blind fall-proof?

If installed correctly in accordance with our installation instructions, the external roller blind will last a long time and remain secure! Make sure you choose the right clips and check them regularly for any signs of warping.

Do I need to hire a tradesperson to install the external roller blind?

No, you can easily fit our roller blind yourself!

Putting the individual components together and installing them in the window frame is child’s play and takes no time at all. Our customers generally don’t need to call in a tradesperson, even if they’re not particularly handy. However, if you do get stuck, we’re happy to help with some tips.

Does the external roller blind block out the light in my flat?

It all depends on your needs: both fabrics provide a noticeable cooling effect. The transparent fabric still lets plenty of daylight in and allows you to see outside. The opaque fabric is woven much more densely and reduces light by around 80–90%, which noticeably darkens the room.

What should I ask my landlord?

As the installation of CLIP & SHADE external blinds does not involve any structural alterations to the windows or façade, causes no damage whatsoever and can be removed at any time, you can install our heat-protection blinds without your landlord’s permission. However, we do recommend informing your landlord – they are often willing to contribute towards the cost.

What should I do if my roller blind is retracting too slowly?

Increase the spring tension on the brake. You can find out how to do this here.

Which fabric offers better protection against the heat?

Both fabrics offer exactly the same level of heat protection! Both the light-transmitting fabric and the privacy fabric block over 90% of the sun’s energy before it even reaches the window, making them the ideal form of heat protection on the outside of the window.

The light-transmitting fabric has the added advantage that, when the external blind is closed, there is no need for artificial lighting indoors. This not only saves on electricity costs but also creates a pleasant atmosphere in the room.

How do I install the external roller blind?

The individual components of CLIP & SHADE can be slotted together without the need for any special tools. The sun blind is then placed in the window frame and secured using our tested and proven clamping mechanism. You can find more details in our installation video and in our installation instructions.

How do I choose the right width and height?

Width:

Choose a width that ensures the external roller blind fits into the window reveal (the recess in the external wall). If the roller blind is narrower than the clear width (the width of the window opening when the sash is open), a gap will appear. This is purely a visual issue and the blind can still be fitted without any problems!

Height:

Measure the clear height of your window (the height inside the window when the sash is open) and select the appropriate range from the drop-down menu. Not sure? Then please feel free to contact us here.

Why is an external roller blind more effective than an internal sunshade?

Internal roller blinds are primarily used to provide privacy and to darken the living space. However, as the sun’s rays are only blocked once they have passed through the window pane, internal roller blinds are hardly suitable for heat protection. An internal roller blind made of dark fabric actually acts like an extra heater, as the fabric heats up significantly in the sun. External roller blinds reflect a large proportion of the sun’s rays before they can even enter the home.
