Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about our external roller blinds for heat protection

Questions and answers about our drill-free exterior roller blind

Why is an external roller blind more effective than an internal sunshade?

Interior roller blinds primarily serve as privacy screens and for darkening living spaces. However, since solar radiation is only stopped after passing through the window pane, interior roller blinds are hardly effective as heat protection. An interior roller blind made of dark fabric can even heat up considerably and act like an additional heat source. Exterior roller blinds, on the other hand, reflect a large portion of the solar radiation before it reaches the window, thus effectively preventing the interior from overheating.

How effectively does the CLIP'N'SHADE protect against heat?

The CLIP'N'SHADE was specially developed as heat protection and, depending on the type of fabric, blocks approximately 90 to 95% of heat radiation before it enters the interior.

Why is CLIP'N'SHADE more effective and sustainable than other solutions?

Air conditioners, fans, and air purifiers with cooling functions consume a lot of electricity and are expensive to run. Air conditioners also produce warm exhaust air, which merely shifts the heat problem. Interior blinds do darken the room, but they don't have a significant cooling effect. Sun protection films are difficult to install and permanently darken rooms – even in winter. CLIP'N'SHADE effectively reduces heat without consuming energy or permanently compromising living comfort.

Is the CLIP'N'SHADE suitable for renters?

Yes, the CLIP'N'SHADE was specifically designed for tenants. It offers a simple, cost-effective, and damage-free way to retrofit external sun protection without interfering with windows or the facade.

Do I need to ask my landlord for permission?

No. Since no structural changes are made during installation and the external roller blind can be removed at any time without leaving any residue, the landlord's permission is usually not required.

How is the exterior roller blind attached?

The individual components are assembled without tools. The exterior roller blind is then positioned in the window frame and secured with a tested clamping mechanism. Detailed information can be found in the assembly instructions and the assembly video.

Will the installation cause any damage to the window or the facade?

No. The CLIP'N'SHADE is attached without drilling. A special rubber layer reliably protects window frames and facades from scratches or damage.

Does the CLIP'N'SHADE affect the thermal insulation or airtightness of the window?

The outer window seal can be slightly compressed, but this does not affect the tightness or thermal insulation of the window.

Do I need to hire a professional for the installation?

No. Assembly is simple and possible even without prior DIY experience. However, should you require assistance, customer service is available to provide tips.

Can the exterior roller blind be installed by one person?

Generally, installation can be done by one person. However, for large windows, it is recommended to have two people for installation.

Is the exterior roller blind safe even if installed by the owner?

Yes. Once the external roller blind is correctly fixed in the window frame and the installation instructions have been followed, it is safely installed.

Up to what wind speeds can the external roller blind be used?

The CLIP'N'SHADE has been extensively tested for wind, heat, and cold. For safety reasons, the blind should be retracted in strong winds or during extended absences.

Does the exterior roller blind need to be cleaned regularly?

There is no fixed cleaning interval. Dirt can easily be removed with a damp cloth. If the fabric is wet, it should be left to dry in the extended position to prevent moisture from getting into the cassette.

Does the CLIP'N'SHADE also keep insects away?

The fabric has an insect-repellent effect. However, individual insects may still enter the interior through gaps in the sides.

Is the CLIP'N'SHADE suitable for all window types?

The CLIP'N'SHADE is suitable for standard tilt and turn windows. Sizes available range from a minimum of 60 x 60 cm to a maximum of 140 x 140 cm. Special windows, non-rectangular shapes, and fixed glazing are excluded. If you are unsure, our customer service team will be happy to assist you.

Is the CLIP'N'SHADE also available for skylights or balcony doors?

Exterior roller blinds are not suitable for skylights. There is a special solution for balcony doors.

Does the CLIP'N'SHADE darken my apartment?

Both fabric options offer a cooling effect. The transparent fabric lets in plenty of light and allows a view outside. The opaque fabric darkens the room by approximately 80–90%.

Does the CLIP'N'SHADE also serve as a privacy screen?

Yes. Depending on the fabric chosen, the CLIP'N'SHADE can be used either as a transparent sunshade or as an opaque privacy screen.

In which colours and fabric types is the CLIP'N'SHADE available?

The case is available in white and grey. You can choose between a transparent and an opaque fabric option.

What materials is the CLIP'N'SHADE made of?

The CLIP'N'SHADE consists primarily of extruded aluminum profiles, complemented by UV-resistant plastic components and high-quality, certified fabrics. Development and manufacturing take place in Germany.

Can the CLIP'N'SHADE be used all year round?

The exterior roller blind can be used all year round. However, it should not be operated in freezing temperatures, as the rolling speed can change depending on the temperature.

How long is the delivery time?

Delivery usually takes 1 to 5 working days.

Can I take the CLIP'N'SHADE with me if I move house?

Yes. The exterior roller blind can be dismantled within a few minutes and can be reused in the new apartment if the window dimensions are suitable.

What do I need to measure the correct size?

A meter stick or a measuring tape is sufficient for measuring.
